All of us are guilty of delaying tasks and putting off important work until a later date. This is essentially procrastinating. It is the action of purposefully delaying any task or activity. Procrastination is the bane of every millennial existence nowadays. We know what we should be doing, we just don’t want to do it. It’s easy to put off undesirable assignments until the very last minute. Now, let me ask you something. Which of the following describes you as a procrastinator?
1. The Perfectionist Procrastinator
If you are a perfectionist, chances are you do something extremely well or avoid doing it at all because of their own fear of not getting things perfectly done, they prefer to put things off and wait for the perfect timing. Sadly, the perfect time rarely happens, and they end up rushing to finish a task at the last minute, increasing the likelihood of making more mistakes.
2. The Productive Procrastinator
If you like listing down a lot of to-do’s on your list because you think this will make you productive, then good for you. However, if you list them down, but rarely get anything done, then you are a productive
procrastinator. This is when you fake being productive by making a to-do list, but when the time requires you to do the action, you just sit there and stare at your long list of responsibilities, then feeling anxious and exasperated about it.
3. The Fun Procrastinator
While you want to find the "fun" and happiness in what you do, you don't always need them to get started. Fun procrastinators are the type who would rather be doing anything (watch movies, browse the Internet, play video games) except those that they dread. Of course, we should find happiness in what we do, but sometimes the most important tasks start off as plain and unexciting but they have to be done anyway for our own good.
4. The Optimist Procrastinator
If you think you have all the time in the world to put things off because you're young or the deadline for that report is in two weeks, you are an optimist. Sadly, not the kind of optimist that we want to be described as. Optimist procrastinators often find it hard to start a project when they know the deadline is a long way off, or worse, when there's no deadline at all. This is why they often put off their future plans for their business and career because they're not time-pressured.
Those are the types of procrastination behavior. I am not perfect because just like what other people do, most of the time I have procrastination scenarios in my life too. I am trying to find my motivation to do it. This book make me realize that motivation is good but you can’t always rely on it. It comes and it goes, it is not consistent. The author achieves what she really wants to happen in her book. Be inspired, take action now, and find your purpose. Tips and advice of this book will encourage and will give answers from all of the questions that you have in your mind.
